Sensors in Action: Advancing Microplastics Removal at WWTP Domžale

01.09.2025 – Domžale, Slovenia

At the Slovenian demo site WWTP Domžale, we have successfully completed the installation of a new set of sensors and meters to benchmark technologies for microplastics removal efficiency.

The deployment was carried out with the support of demo site lead University of Maribor, in collaboration with project partners KTH, Delvec, Waste&Water, and Clera. As a partner in the Inspire project, Infordata Sistemi contributed to the development and installation of these innovative tools.

These sensors provide real-time data collection, enabling continuous monitoring of the selected technologies. All collected metrics are automatically transferred to the Inspire Impact Dashboard, where they will be processed with advanced machine learning algorithms.

This setup will allow:

  • Benchmarking of performance across different technologies,
  • Optimisation support for technology providers,
  • Evidence-based insights into improving microplastics removal in wastewater treatment.

This milestone marks a significant step in advancing sustainable water management and innovation in environmental protection under the Inspire project.
