Infordata Sistemi Società Benefit

post-header

On the morning of 28 May, staff from Infordata Sistemi joined a large group of local volunteers for a clean-up of the beaches at Umag, removing waste both along the shore and from the seabed. A team of divers made it possible to recover material abandoned below the surface.

Technology in the service of the environment

The clean-up used the Remedies Shoreline ML App, the tool Infordata built for beach litter monitoring and for collecting data in a form the scientific community can use.

With the app, volunteers were able to:

  • Catalogue the waste found along the shore quickly and to a common standard
  • Geolocate the worst-affected areas
  • Share validated data with researchers and institutions studying marine pollution

That information feeds the European datasets on marine pollution, supporting research projects and work to protect biodiversity.

A practical commitment to sustainability

The day confirms Infordata Sistemi’s commitment to practical action for the environment, and to using technology as a way of improving the state of our marine ecosystems.

“Protecting the sea is also a matter of small collective acts. Putting volunteering and innovation together is the most effective way to make a real difference.”
