On Wednesday, 17 March 2026 at 3:00 PM, a participatory workshop dedicated to wildfire prevention and management in the Karst region will take place in Aurisina/Nabrežina (Trieste, Italy) at the conference hall of the “Igo Gruden” Stone House.
The event is organised within the framework of the Karst Firewall 5.0 project, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia Programme.
The workshop will bring together firefighters, civil protection organisations, local authorities, common land administrations, and other institutional stakeholders, as well as citizens interested in the role of technology in wildfire prevention.
The topic is particularly relevant for the Duino-Aurisina area, which was heavily affected by major wildfires in 2022.
Digital technologies and predictive tools for wildfire management
During the workshop, participants will explore innovative digital tools designed to support wildfire prevention and management, developed within the Karst Firewall 5.0 project.
In particular, the event will include the presentation of an integrated digital platform for wildfire monitoring and management, featuring predictive algorithms designed to support decision-making and improve preparedness.
Infordata Sistemi participates in the project as technology partner and will contribute to the presentation of the platform and its digital tools.
Workshop programme
The meeting will include several sessions aimed at fostering dialogue between institutions, experts and local stakeholders:
- introduction and overview of the Karst Firewall 5.0 project
- operational brainstorming on critical areas and priority interventions
- presentation of the integrated wildfire management platform and predictive algorithms
- structured validation of the developed digital tools
- final plenary discussion with participants.
The workshop aims to strengthen cooperation between institutions, experts and local communities in order to improve wildfire prevention strategies in the Karst region.
How to participate
The workshop will be held in Italian, with Italian/Slovenian bilingual support available upon request.
Participation is free, but registration is required by 16 March 2026.
