Marina di Procida

Studded in the centre of the island, Marina di Procida is located on the sheet of water near the landing port and overlooks the Procida canal, the Straits of Procida and Mount Procida. There is also a beautiful view over Capo Misero and the Vesuvius. It offers 230 docking spaces for up to 26-metre long boats maximum seabed depth of 3.5 metres. After upgrading is completed, it will have 491 docking places available for up to 30 metre-long boats.

Following a recommendation of the Marina di Portisco, Marina di Procida decided to adopt the iGuard LM520-SC, an access control terminal with proximity card reader, while the RFID card reader and the GS2000 device – with built-in proximity TAG microchips – was opted for as patrol control system. The iGuard access control terminal was easily installed and connected to the LAN network, thus allowing a flexible management of employees.

Thanks to a fully embedded web architecture that can be connected o an IP and accessed through any web browser, iGuard doesn’t require the installation of dedicated pc-software and thus eliminates the need for maintenance or technical assistance.

The GS2000 system includes some TAG RFID, i.e. some microchips that can be read on a wireless basis in different areas. At Marina di Procida the system was put in place by putting TAG microchips in some given points within the controlled area. While patrolling the port area, watchmen are provided with a TAG RFID 2000 device provided with a specific identification code. Passing close to one of the TAGs, they can register their identification code simply by putting the device close to a TAG. Data relating to the time and day when the event took place are thus collected. When they finish patrolling, watchmen hand the remote reader back and data are easily transferred to a PC and checked for correctness. Besides, the GS2000 portable reader is particularly resistant and can thus be used for carrying out difficult tasks from an environmental and handling point of view. It has an IP65 protection degree, is shock and waterproof and is coated in ABS, an impact resistant, heat-proof resin.
